Threase Harms was first elected to the Windsor Heights City Council in 2015. She is a 19-year Windsor Heights resident, community volunteer, and civic advocate passionate about healthy, sustainable and connected communities. “I have lived in Iowa my entire life and consider myself a born and raised farm-fed Iowa girl. I’m proud of our state and I love being a part of the thriving Windsor Heights community.”
Threase’s extensive experience in shaping policy in health care, education, environmental issues, economic development, local government, and the judicial system positions her as a top candidate for the Windsor Heights City Council.
Threase is a small business owner in the heart of Windsor Heights and a member of both the Greater Des Moines Partnership and the Windsor Heights Chamber of Commerce.
Working in both the public and private sectors for more than 20 years, Threase is proud to advocate on behalf of businesses, non-profit organizations and associations.
Threase holds a BA in Communication Studies from the University of Northern Iowa and a Masters in Public Administration from Iowa State University. She is a graduate of Leadership Iowa – class of 2008.
Outside of her work and family, Threase has wide-ranging volunteer responsibilities and is actively engaged in the community.

Threase is also involved as a volunteer for:
- Big Brothers Big Sisters
- Iowa Girls High School Rugby Program
- Children’s Cancer Connection
Threase pioneered the UNI and Des Moines Women’s Rugby programs and is actively involved in the development of the Iowa high school rugby program. She is also dedicated member of the VeloRosa Cycling Team.
Threase was named Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Woman of the Year Runner-Up (2011).
